Detox for your Body

SriHari H S

A Lot of people are asking me about the detox diet I took for the last few days. Since there re too many requests, I thought of just writing about it once and for all.

Reason for Detox:

Over a year ago I was told that I have hypo Thyroid and was put on the so called lifelong medication of Thyroxin.  18 Months down the line I still feel very tired and have a lot of muscle fatigue. Doctors have no solution so I started off some research. Those of you who know me are familiar with my obsession for information. So after reading for over a week’s time I found one Naturopath who had a simple way to deal with this problem. Hypothyroid solution had the answers I was looking for. In fact after I got this book, I crosschecked his suggestions with other naturopath suggestions, my Ayurveda doctor and my Acupressure handbook and found that it was pretty much on the right track.

The Actual Detox

Anyone who wants to cleanse their body can do a detox. This is what I followed. Based on Paula Horan’s suggestion I included as much as alkaline items as possible.

Morning: Start off with a wheatgrass juice mixed with a bit of Honey for taste on empty stomach.

Breakfast : 2 types of fruits approx weight of 1/4 kilo.

Noon: A Raw vegetable salad containing some greens, one whole cucumber and raw carrots followed by one big serving of boiled vegetables (3-4 different types)

Evening: 1 big fruit plus Almonds plus one serving of sprouts (3-4 different ones mixed together)

Night : One big serving of Sprouts and boiled vegetables

Whenever I feel Hungry: Carrots and cucumber

Drink: A lot of Tulsi Green Tea and Lime Juice with very little sugar

Important Vegetables

Carrots (Alkaline) almost everyday

Beetroot –> very good for detox, eater raw as well as boiled once in two days

Beans–> Good source of fibre, everyday, boiled

Cucumber –> to keep you cool

And a lot of Water

Things to avoid:

Needless to say, all stimulants like coffee and Tea should be avoided. Green Tea is an exception.

Rice, Wheat and all food that contain preservatives like jam, sauce, bakery products, Chemical preservatives, colourings, flavourings, white flour, sugar, coffee, alcohol, dairy, nuts, tea and junk foods.

This is not a perfect diet. but it works well. It passes my common sense test. Try it at your own risk.  Do not do any type of detox for longer than  14 days at a stretch. All helpful comments and suggestions are welcome. Let your friends know  as well. If you  get tempted away for a day, do not beat yourself, just continue and stay the course.

All the best.

Hari
