Detox for your Body

SriHari H S

A Lot of people are asking me about the detox diet I took for the last few days. Since there re too many requests, I thought of just writing about it once and for all.

Reason for Detox:

Over a year ago I was told that I have hypo Thyroid and was put on the so called lifelong medication of Thyroxin.  18 Months down the line I still feel very tired and have a lot of muscle fatigue. Doctors have no solution so I started off some research. Those of you who know me are familiar with my obsession for information. So after reading for over a week’s time I found one Naturopath who had a simple way to deal with this problem. Hypothyroid solution had the answers I was looking for. In fact after I got this book, I crosschecked his suggestions with other naturopath suggestions, my Ayurveda doctor and my Acupressure handbook and found that it was pretty much on the right track.

The Actual Detox

Anyone who wants to cleanse their body can do a detox. This is what I followed. Based on Paula Horan’s suggestion I included as much as alkaline items as possible.

Morning: Start off with a wheatgrass juice mixed with a bit of Honey for taste on empty stomach.

Breakfast : 2 types of fruits approx weight of 1/4 kilo.

Noon: A Raw vegetable salad containing some greens, one whole cucumber and raw carrots followed by one big serving of boiled vegetables (3-4 different types)

Evening: 1 big fruit plus Almonds plus one serving of sprouts (3-4 different ones mixed together)

Night : One big serving of Sprouts and boiled vegetables

Whenever I feel Hungry: Carrots and cucumber

Drink: A lot of Tulsi Green Tea and Lime Juice with very little sugar

Important Vegetables

Carrots (Alkaline) almost everyday

Beetroot –> very good for detox, eater raw as well as boiled once in two days

Beans–> Good source of fibre, everyday, boiled

Cucumber –> to keep you cool

And a lot of Water

Things to avoid:

Needless to say, all stimulants like coffee and Tea should be avoided. Green Tea is an exception.

Rice, Wheat and all food that contain preservatives like jam, sauce, bakery products, Chemical preservatives, colourings, flavourings, white flour, sugar, coffee, alcohol, dairy, nuts, tea and junk foods.

This is not a perfect diet. but it works well. It passes my common sense test. Try it at your own risk.  Do not do any type of detox for longer than  14 days at a stretch. All helpful comments and suggestions are welcome. Let your friends know  as well. If you  get tempted away for a day, do not beat yourself, just continue and stay the course.

All the best.

Hari

Avatar rocks our Thoughts

Yesterday I squeezed in some time to  watch this highly anticipated movie and fortunately, it met and exceeded my expectation. While many may sideline it  calling it a fantasy movie, I was touched at a deeper level at the emotions involved.

Some people did get the impression that James Cameroon has  created this movie as a symbolic gesture towards the destruction caused by American Greed. It is a repetetion of what Americans did with so many of the  Latin American countries. Millions lost their life and livelihood in the service to the Capitalistic masters. In fact at some points of time, I felt that the General spoke just the same words George W Bush spoke during his period as the president of United States .

Coming back to my Experience. I  Was more moved by the idea of Idea of Oneness of all the things. The scene where the Heroine shows her grief when she reluctantly kills the dog like things chasing the Hero is quite moving. The remorse felt is so real. It is in startk contrast to the now famous Human skills of take whatever you want away and have no regrets. Incidentally Human being s are the only creatures that kills for reason other than food.

Coming back to track, after my CET workshop with Paula, I feel so much peaceful to be in Harmony with nature. In my Aha walks, I can feel the oneness and this movie just helped me drive the point home stronger…
It is like watching Matrix for the first time…..
if you have not watched it yet…. make sure you do….it is really worth it.

Google is watchin ya

This was a big wake up call for me, and probably you too. This Interview shook me up a bit.  Eric Schmidt  CEO of Google talks about Google and privacy. Check out the Highlight.

“if? you have nothing to hide why worry about privacy?” – Eric Schmidt

Doesn’t this sound a little insane to you?

Google was  and probably is still a great  Search Engine. But their attitude of getting into every nook and corner of the web and then into you life is scary. Privacy is one of the most basic human rights and I love mine enough to take steps today. Do not let your Convenience come in the way of your freedom.

So how do you stay safe and avoid this massive information gathering?

1. Turn off your web history.

If you are logged into your Google A/c while using Google Search, your search history will be tracked and tagged to your A/c. To disable this feature follow instruction on this post.

2. Use Incognito mode on your browser

IE 8, Firefox 3.5 as well as Google Chrome comes with Incognito modes use it well.

3.  Use Anchor’s Free VPN software.

This is probably the best way to hide your digital footprint. Anchor free creates a VPN like tunnel and will assign an IP for you. Yes there will be some ads at the top window, but its a minor irritation compared to your privacy being harvested by Google.

4. Use Bing

It used to be a really bad Search Engine. But now they are getting better everyday.  Honestly I hate MS but I think its time Google gets some competition. Plus Bing has better privacy policy than Google.

It does not matter if you live in US or somewhere else, beware of what is happening in the world.

Harley Davidson in India

Harley Davidson is in India now and going to start selling their monster beauties soon. When I saw them in Vancouver, I fell in love..So I decided I am gonna get a Harley Davidson and guess what? They are now here.

When I shared this dream with a friend of mine, he said but you will look too small in a  Harley.  for moment I was pissed off. Then I realized Harley Davidson is not just a bike, It is an attitude. An attitude which says “I will have my way” Its a calling that only some will answer. I will find a way to get a Harley and my poor sod of a friend will be stuck to his four wheeler for the rest of his life.

This is my attempt to capture the awesomeness of a bike which has become a legend of our times. It is a Dream and someday I will make it come true. Watch the video and leave your thoughts. For many Harley represents a Dream, what is your dream and what step are you willing to take today towards your dream?

Harley Davidson and I

Harley Davidson is now in India. Everyone I know and their granny knows that. And every dude I know wants one too. Well not every man but most dudes would want one.

So what more can I say that you would want to listen to?

I have to admit I did not pay attention to Harley bikes until I went to Vancouver in Aug 09. Those bikes were like eye candy in the midst of boring city, It was like a beautiful girl in the middle of  a black and white movie for the aged. I think Harleys were the only thing I liked within the city radius of the city. Being an Indian and being used to chaos and noise, Vancouver was a different type of culture shock for me. Disconnected people with sterile looks, too disciplined to my taste. People walked in an orderly manner and crossed at the signals and all that. People driving their cars and looking totally lost.

It was waay too organized for me almost too controlled. Looking at the same scene day in and day out for hours I was totally bugged Until I saw this biker on his beast. Man what a sight!

being an biker, I instantly felt a connection and lucky me he stopped to go to Tim Horton’s nearby. so Guess what? I followed, almost ran in. I started chatting with him about riding in BC. I have to admit, I did not know much about HD and honestly not much about the biking technology. All I love is to get on my bike and go for long rides.

Like I said bikers connect. He told me about his long rides and I explained how it works in India. I think we sat there for 3 or 4 hours talking. Just then I imagined riding one of these lovely Harley through the  Trans Canadian Highways. BC in August is a sight to see. Once you get out of the city, the nature is absolutely captivating and mesmerizing. So that show I started dreaming about Harley Davidson
